East Tennessee Rowing Organization (ETRO) is looking for support for our Capital Equipment Fund which provides the specialized equipment used by our youth and community outreach programs. Our club has experienced 70% growth each of the past three years. Due to this rapid program growth, there is a major need for rowing shells, oars, rowing machines, coxswain equipment, and coach safety launches, so that everyone can participate in a safe and productive learning environment.
All funds raised during this CrowdRise campaign will be used here in East Tennessee. Every donation helps as the campaign that raises the most money on CrowdRise by May 11, will be awarded the Fan Favorite grant of $25,000! Once we meet our goal we can be considered for an ACT Grant of $100,000, $50,000, $25,000, $15,000, or $10,000 which will be used toward our community outreach programs.
ETRO believes the sport of rowing can change lives of those involved, making fitness and overall wellness are achievable goals for everyone. Our mission is to address the barriers to participation by providing easy and comprehensive access to the sport of rowing and fitness for all skills, and ages in the Knoxville Metro area.
Our team of professional rowing coaches and strength-and-conditioning coaches is dedicated to helping athletes, beginner to elite, work to develop skills, find speed, and create the best opportunities for individual and team success through instructional, recreational and competitive rowing programs as well as opportunities for private lessons. With a conviction is that rowing based fitness has the unique capability to promote personal growth, confidence, fitness, and lifelong friendships through fostering a healthy lifestyle and a sense of community within a framework of physical fitness and team dynamics, where the success of the boat exceeds the success of any one athlete.
What will we do with A Community Thrives Grant? ETRO is not supported through public funding, as a majority of our funding comes from membership fees, community sponsorships and fundraising. East Tennessee Rowing recognizes the benefits and opportunities of rowing and the college going culture within the sport and sponsors a youth rowing program for athletes 12-18 years of age. We want to expand these same benefits within our community through our outreach programs which include:
• RowingEd: working with area school districts to deliver classroom-based indoor rowing education program we provide the equipment, technology, curriculum, and training to middle and high school physical education classes so that teachers and students can access rowing without ever leaving the classroom.
• RowSmoky Initiative: working with the Emerald Youth Foundation to address the barriers to participation by offers opportunities for those underrepresented and underserved, by conducting no-cost weeklong summer learn-to-row clinic and need-based youth scholarships for registration and regatta fees.
• Row-2-Recover: working with the United Cancer Support Foundation to offer patients and survivors of breast cancer an opportunity to become active in their own recovery and rediscover the joy of movement while being a part of a community with a common bond of support.
As these outreach services develope ETRO is working to launch courses for childhood obesity, veteran rowing and fitness, and physical impaired rowing and fitness.
With your help this is possible. Thank You for your consideration and support.
