The first-ever EHA Robotics Program is coming to Gode School in rural Ethiopia.
ABOUT ME: My name is Jake Futterman. This summer, I have developed and will be teaching a robotics summer program at Gode Primary School in rural Ethiopia.
MY GOAL: This program will teach the basics of robotics and STEM ideas using LEGO Mindstorms EV3 technology to children in grades 6 through 8.
MY PROJECT: Gode Primary School is a small village school that has only recently been exposed to basic computers and technology through Ethiopia Health Aid's work. Before that, they had no electricity or technology of any kind. However, a young student once told EHA, “Here you may see us as a primitive community with no running water and electricity -- much less in need of technology when we barely have books. But please remember that our future is out there in the world, and we need computers to compete.”
BENEFITS: Like students all over the world, the students of Gode Primary School are striving to be the brightest in an expanding global marketplace. Through LEGO Mindstorms robotics, these young students will learn how to innovate, problem-solve, and work as a team, as well as develop an understanding of innovation design and STEM-related concepts that can greatly influence their future.
YOUR IMPACT: Your donation will provide them with a life-changing opportunity that will allow them to grow in new ways, achieve previously impossible goals, and reach for the stars.
