On October 28, I’ll be running the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC to raise money for The Children’s Inn - a ‘Place Like Home’ at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that provides free lodging and meals to families with seriously ill children.
Children come to the NIH from around the world because conventional treatments have failed; in many cases, coming is a last, best hope for a successful treatment or cure. Each dollar raised fuels access to the research that makes childhood possible for the more than 13,000 kids, traveling from all 50 states and 94 different countries, who have stayed at The Inn. Your donation also enables families to develop friendships and learn from others who know what it’s like to seek the promise of hope or a cure for a seriously ill child.
I participated in numerous NIH studies while I was living in DC; it helped me pay down my student loans, and I was able to be a small part of critical research being done to improve, and ultimately save, lives. I saw these families firsthand. The only difference is that I was there by choice, not out of necessity. No one – especially a child – should have to be there out of necessity.
Please consider joining me in my fundraising and donating. 100% of all money raised will go directly to The Children’s Inn.
Thanks in advance for your support!
