Emily's adaptive sports journey began in 2015 with her first trip to Junior National competition in New Jersey. She was 2 months out from surgery to release her right heel cord and correct a leg length difference caused by her hemiplegia when she qualified for her first national swim competition. Not only did she qualify, she went on to break all of her personal records in the pool and swam her first 100 yard race. Emily has continued to break personal records at regional and national competition since then, as well as add new events, not only in adaptive swim, but also with her high school swim team!! Emily now has the chance to compete on the world stage at the CP World Games in Barcelona, Spain in August 2018. She has been blessed to receive grants from the Challenged Athletes Foundation the past two years for national competition, and we are applying once again, but that won't cover the cost of traveling internationally. The cost of registering with the team and paying for hotel and food will be $1200, besides the need to pay for a uniform, coach and the flight to Spain. Please help support our swimmer and make her Parasports dreams come true!
