Our mission is to improve the quality of life of outside dogs in Indianapolis. We work with dog owners to provide alternatives to chaining and to help transition dogs inside the house to be part of the family.
We partner with the city-run Indianapolis Animal Care Services on a weekly “alley outreach” program, where we seek out dogs in need of assistance and offer information and help (including spay/neuter, vaccinations, training crates, dog houses, warm bedding, flea treatment, collars and leashes), enabling owners to provide better care for their dogs, comply with the local animal care and treatment ordinance, while keeping the dogs in the home and out of the city shelter.
We build fences to help free dogs from chains so they can run loose in a secure fenced yard. We operate a pet food pantry that provides 10,000 pounds of pet food to low-income pet owners each month. Spay/neuter is an integral part of our programs and we offer it for free, including transportation, in partnership with the FACE Animal Clinic. We also partner with Indianapolis Animal Care Services on our lost dog recovery program to reunite lost dogs with their owners and to get stray dogs off the stree and to a safe haven.
This fundraiser will enable FIDO to provide more of this type of crucial support to Indy dogs in need.
