Josephine Ann Murdocco was stricken with AML and fought for five years.
Her children coined the phrase for their Mother “FIGHT LIKE A GIRL”, and that she did. During these years, there were many ups and downs too numerous to mention - the family was blessed with two years of remission and then the disease returned.
There are no words, just heartfelt praise for her doctors and nurses that took special care of her during this period; Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York was simply amazing. JoAnn (as she was warmly referred to) was never alone during her countless stays in the hospital or at home.
She and her husband were married for 45 years and during this time they welcomed three children and created a warm and loving home. They were all blessed to have her as a wife, a mother, a Grammie and a best friend.
As is too often the case, JoAnn was not the only one stricken with this terrible disease. We would also like to remember, in a special way, Tom Cook's Nana, Patricia Gibson, who passed away 2 years ago from this horrible disease.
It is with the memories of their loved ones at heart, that Christyn, Andrea, and their families invite you to the Fight Like A Girl Gala, benefiting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
For every fight won, for each battle lost, for those still fighting, we proudly throw this event in their honor.
Thank you for your continued support - we look forward to sharing this evening with you all.
