In recognition of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Broward County will hold its 21st Annual Forget Me Not Memorial Event on Oct. 7.
The Forget Me Not Fund provides financial assistance to families who can't afford cremation or burial services, while the event itself creates a place for families who have experienced pregnancy and infant loss to remember and honor their children. Our goal is to ensure every baby is laid to rest with dignity and respect. With more than 300 babies dying before their first birthday in Broward County alone, there is a continued need for the support the Forget Me Not program provides.
I first attended the FMN event in October 2012, just 5 months after my son, Lennox, was stillborn. In a time where I had never felt more alone, I was able to find a community that was accepting of me and validated my experience. To have my son's life acknowledged and honored in a way I knew he deserved was life changing. I have since used my experience to raise awareness and provide peer bereavement support, but I would not be where I am today without the Forget Me Not program.
Your donations will help families get the support they need after experiencing such a tragic loss. I can't begin to express my gratitude to those who have helped in the past. It really means the world to me, as does this program.
