Why do we walk? Child abuse in the U.S. is reported every 10 seconds. The effects can last a lifetime. The FosterWalks are part of a national campaign to build awareness of child abuse, its lifelong effects, and inspiration for healing. By joining our FosterWalk event, it benefits our chapters and helps support personal and professional growth for foster care alumni. Funds raised empower foster care alumni to overcome patterns of trauma through peer support, leadership development, and advocacy. Costs: The walk is free and there are no fundraising minimums, but donations are welcome. When we walk, we are able to provide empowerment and support in the following ways: Foster Care Alumni of America Illinois Chapter Thanksgiving Dinner- $500 per dinner. We are hosting 4 dinners this year. Foster Care Alumni of America Illinois Chapter Alumni Reunion- $500 per picnic. Foster Care Alumni of America Illinois Chapter Alumni Shadow Day- $200.00 Per Alumni this covers all cost for a young person to get to Springfield hotel and food. We are bringing 15 alumni. Through your support in our goal, your donation will provide stability for the Illinois Chapter for two years. Within two years Illinois can retain resource and donations for continuous services for its members.
