A high school education in Belize is not free. It costs approximately US$800 to educate each student for a year. Females are often denied the chance to attend high school due to family monetary constraints. A lack of education severely limits a girl's future and serves to perpetuate the cycle of poverty so prevalent in Belize.
As an example, meet student X. She lives with her single mother and two sisters. Her mother makes very little money in her job as a school cook. Student X is an honor roll student, president of her class, and a member of the school’s band and Drum Corps. She babysits to earn extra money and enjoys doing volunteer work for her church and community in her spare time. Receiving a Full Basket Belize scholarship mean that this dedicated and hard-working young lady can continue her education and be somebody in the future.
Full Basket Belize supports high-achieving, needy female high school students like student X with scholarships in all districts of Belize. Because we are completely volunteer run, 100 % of all donations go directly to support our scholarship program.
We need to raise $10,000 to support 20 student scholarships worth US$500 for the upcoming school year. Can you help?
