My son,Blake Thomas (18), was gunned down on November 5, 2017 around 10a.m. at The Trails at Dominion Park Apartments located at 150 Dominion Park Drive in Houston, Texas.
Blake, who had just graduated from Nimitz High School was maintaining a fulltime job until taking the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) and making plans to join the military. He had furthered those plans by asking his longtime girlfriend to marry him so that they could start a life together just weeks before.
Blake went with a friend to the apartment complex to buy weed when Blake was shot twice in the chest while standing in the parking lot.His body lay in the street uncovered and exposed while pictures of his corpse circulated via social media until the M.E and an officers at the scene covered him hours after the fact.
His mother and I were notified of our child's murder thru Instagram and Facebook instead of being contacted the proper way as the parent's of the victim or the next-of-kin.
The murder of my son is very devastating to us, his family ,and friends. The person that took my son's life has yet to take responsibility and i have made plea after plea that they turn themselves in.Blake Thomas was not a thug, hoodlum,or gang member. In fact my son has never had any encounters with law enforcement nor has he ever even had a traffic ticket. He was a well-achieved student that had never received any scholastic disciplinary actions.
As my family tries to process the senseless killing of their first grandson, a loving son,
and helpful big brother, we are battling another difficult roadblock with out of pocket funeral expenses.I, Emmanuel Thomas, would like to provide my son with a customized suit and undergarments, his last uptown fade haircut, and assistance with church rental fees and expenses for the funeral and repass. Additionally I am asking for assistance in transportation of his siblings from Chicago to Houston roundtrip to be able to attend the burial of their older brother.
Blake will be remembered for his infectious smile, strong will to help others and his charm.
I may not have been the best man in my lifetime but my son Blake was a great man on his way to do great things for his country and family. I would like to send my son to his final resting place the way he lived like the prince that he was and will always be.
REST IN PEACE BLAKE
