March is Mental Health Awareness Month at Gamer's Guide. According to Mental Health America 1 in 5 adults have a mental health condition, which is over 40 million Americans. And the amount of youth diagnosed with severe depression has been steadily rising since 2012 (and this does not even include those who cannot afford proper treatment) Beyond financial issues and circumstance, a lot of people do not seek treatment because of the stigma around mental health. People are told to "get over it" or "deal with it" or "just stop" being sad, or angry, or what have you. But the fact is that mental health is JUST as important as physical health. A person with anxiety or depression should get treatment as often as someone with Diabetes, or Cancer. So, with that in mind. On top of raising awareness for mental health. We at Gamer's Guide would like to show our support by raising money for NAMI: The National Alliance on Mental Illness. Their goal is to increase awareness of - and reduce the stigma around - Mental Illness. Because, often enough, the work starts at home and with understanding. It is okay to seek out help, and it is okay to admit you need help.
