The Georgia Writers Museum opened in 2014 and has been working to bring writing and creative literary expression back to being “cool”. Georgia boasts many internationally famous writers. Alice Walker, Flannery O’Connor and Joel Chandler Harris all grew up near rural Eatonton, Georgia, within miles of the museum. The colorful mural in the photo features these three authors. It was designed and painted by local artists and students, then mounted on the wonderful historic building that is our future home.
The museum works to share this statewide heritage with everyone. Our youth programs, events and classes draw book lovers and writers to this lovely rural town for a special experience.
We need your help because we’ve outgrown our current modest storefront. We are raising funds to move, but we’re not asking you for a donation for the new building.
We are asking you to help us become eligible for significant grant funds for our future home. Make a donation here and you improve our chances to be able to ask for those funds.
In the meantime, your actual donation will help keep our doors open. expand our exhibits and develop cool state-of-the-art 3D and virtual technology to let visitors interact with past writers and characters from their works.
