In Boston we are truly blessed. Home to world-renowned hospitals, families travel from all over the United States and even the world, for the one thing their own communities cannot offer – some of the best cutting-edge pediatric treatment medicine has to offer.
This year we have provided over 100 families with a home at RMH Boston Harbor. However, the number of families who need us far exceed what we are able to accommodate. Over 400 families this year have been placed on our waitlist, we must find a way of avoiding saying "no" to these families.
Alone and in an unfamiliar city, these families find a home away from home at the RMH Boston Harbor. When families make the decision to travel for medical care, they must find solutions to three major questions: Where will we find a comfortable, family-friendly place to stay? How will we afford a place to live? Who will help us to find our way around this new, strange city? RMH Boston Harbor successfully answers each of these questions by providing private, one-bedroom apartments to families in need. And the best part is: all of this is provided at no cost to the families who stay with us. Each apartment costs RMH Boston Harbor roughly $150 per night to lease and operate. This amount includes the cost of rent, utilities, cleaning, cable, wifi, and a telephone, as well as the expenses incurred by keeping the units furnished and stocked with food and games, and the cost of hosting activities for our guests to enjoy together.
You can make a difference in the lives of these families on our waitlist by contributing to our 11th apartment. Our goal is $40,000, and we need you to hep us get there!
