Being homeless isn't a choice and many unsuspecting people find themselves on the streets. They are moms and dads, brothers and sisters and grandmas and grandpas. They are people like us, but somewhere along the way they encountered terribly bad luck. There are approximately 20,000 homeless people living in Detroit. Of these, 25% are children and 60% are families with children. Our charity, Heart 2 Hart Detroit is a small nonprofit. We have volunteers that go every Monday, Wednesday and Friday to Hart Plaza and hand out life-sustaining items to hundreds of homeless Detroiters. Heart 2 Hart goes even further by offering critical assistance connecting and reconnecting the homeless to community service organizations, rehab facilities, estranged family members and potential employers.
Last year we raised over $11,000 and were able to purchase and handout hundred's of coats, pairs of socks and food gift cards to the many homeless people in Detroit. As we listened to their stories, saw the gleam in their eyes as they recieved their items and felt the sincerity in their thankfulness, we knew that we were needed again and are certainly up for the challange. We are asking for your help again. We want to help Heart 2 Hart again this year and provide more coats, socks and food gift cards to the homeless. We are going to deliver them on Monday, November 20th, 2017 in Hart Plaza at 12:00pm. Your support is essential to helping us accomplish our goal.
We appreciate anything you can do to help us hit our goal. We thank you for all your support.
