I am very excited to announce that I will be running in my first marathon in support of the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation in April.
Glen Doherty, a former Navy SEAL and Security Operator from Winchester, was one of 4 American heroes killed in an attack against the United States Consulate in Benghazi, Libya on September 12th, 2012. He died serving with men he respected, protecting the freedoms we enjoy as Americans today. The Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation is dedicated to honoring and preserving his memory.
The foundation’s mission is to ease the transition from military life to that of a civilian by helping fund educational costs for Special Operation individuals and their children. To date, GDMF has assisted 28 current and former Special Operations professionals move towards new careers. More information is available here: http://www.glendohertyfoundation.org/about-us/
Why am I running for GDMF?
Having grown up in Glen’s hometown, I knew of Glen’s story and the sacrifices he made, but became a supporter of the Foundation when my brother Matt, ran the 2018 Boston Marathon for the GDMF team. In September, I participated in the GDMF 5K, and was inspired by the thousands of people who came to support the foundation’s mission. With your help, I am excited to help grow the support for those transitioning from the life of a military professional to that of a civilian.
Thank you for your support!
