A DAY IN THE LIFE OF GGLRR!
We are often asked: “how is life at GGLRR?” We love to share with you a beautiful story.
This young puppy was brought into a Turlock vet with a badly broken leg. The vet was prepared to euthanize the dog or amputate the leg. The call came to GGLRR on a hot Sunday afternoon: after a quick discussion, Dave, one of our expert GGLRR volunteers quite used to these difficult situations, hopped in the car and rushed to Turlock. In Turlock a frail puppy was waiting for Dave hoping it was his lucky day. Dave gave a quick look at the puppy, took immediate custody and brought him to our San Ramon veterinarian where the next day a surgical specialist from Sage animal hospital installed pins and an amazing external apparatus to stabilize the bone and allow it to heal. Three months later… after a successful foster care and full recovery… “Scout” was adopted to a wonderful woman in San Jose!
This is our story, this is our life at GGLRR! Most of the time, we are in front of the dog that needs us to believe in him and we have to make the call. But we have done it for 30 years, we know the drill, we have saved more than 5,000 dogs and we know the gift we are giving to their loving adopters.
Shelters and surrendering owners know that if GGLRR has the means to help…GGLRR will come to the rescue! Our dream is when no labs will be turned away and have to give up on their own mission: to make us humans happy!
