As you know, ChildServ operates a home in Downers Grove that houses teen girls who are recovering from trauma. That home was affected by the elements during the Polar Vortex, and we are seeking your help to recover.
On the afternoon of Wednesday, January 29-- the first day of Chicago's Polar Vortex--the boiler at our home stopped working. Our dedicated group homes staff ensured that the girls were moved quickly and safely out of the home and into a warm environment. Unfortunately, the repairman couldn't access the part needed until Thursday, and overnight, our radiators burst due to the cold. We've been able to clean up the mess, and put in new radiators so that our girls could go back home, but we've been left with a $2,500 radiator bill.
We're reaching out to our community of donors in hopes that a few kind individuals will help us with this unexpected hurdle. We're grateful to all of you for your help in making our work possible, and blessed to be able to provide these girls with a supportive home.
