This mission is about two students, brother and sister Guyvenson and Stacey Belfort. Today Stacey and Guyvenson are students at The School of Choice / l'Ecole de Choix (Haiti). Before learning more about these two, consider the following challenges for Haitian children and students. Haiti has a population of about 10M people. 50% of the children do not attend primary school. Today most Haitian schools offer small or no selection of textbooks or materials. They often provide no snacks or meals. Teaching staff receive below a living wage and have severely limited qualifications, with some having achieved only a 6th grade education, themselves, but It costs $1.00 / day to keep a student healthy and fed. It costs us just over $6.50 / day to ensure that each student is healthy, fed, clothed, and also has books (in three languages), supplies, a backpack, a school bus, educated and certified teachers, athletics, art, clean water, a full-time nurse, has access to technology, and is safe. Now let me tell you about the two individuals we want to support. Guyvenson is in our 4th grade and Stacey is in 3rd grade. They all live with both of their parents and their grandmother very close to Choix. Guyvenson is a big soccer fan and loves to play the game, he enjoys learning french and has aspirations to become a professor one day. Stacy is an artist and cares about the environment and her friends. I hope that we can all come together to support these two reach their dreams! Thank you.
