a sense of home is an organization run by a group of former foster youth who help raise money to rent and furnish apartments for foster kids who have "aged out" of the system and have nothing / no one / no support system to get on their feet.
25% of the los angeles homeless population are former foster kids. the odds are stacked against them in a way i'm almost unable to comprehend. most of them are kicked out of their homes just days after their 18th birthdays with literally nothing in their pockets.
i'm organizing a HOME CREATION for an upcoming recipient (TBD!). if you'd like to donate money, you can do so here! if you have any gently used housewares, you can donate those as well. anything helps!
once i’ve raised the $5k needed to furnish the apartment, we’ll be assigned a recipient & i’ll organize for a group of us to go build / decorate / furnish the place! if you don’t have the $ or gently used items to donate, but still want to be involved, this part is for you! kids welcome! the EXTREME HOME MAKEOVER only takes a few hours, and it’s wonderful / moving / fulfilling / FUN!
