I started reading before I was born; one of my mother's favorite things to do was read to me while in her womb. I was probably two weeks late in part because I was in there hoping for one more story. I was a shy baby and toddler, but mom promised me the sweetest Gund Bear if I nailed my Easter Sunday speech, so that shyness had to go! Church was always there to give me an opportunity to sing, dance or act. There came a day, though, that I hungered for more instruction and I soaked up all the arts education available. One of my favorite memories is how one music teacher gave all us kids a chance to sing along with a musical that he played in class. After everyone had multiple turns singing lots of parts, I found out I would play and sing the lead part in our spring production of Magellan! It remains the smoothest audition process of my life. Getting to do that part helped me overcome insecurities and helped me learn how to speak up for what I wanted. Which was more time in the arts! Please join me in helping Broadway Bound provide the same opportunity to the next generation!
Please donate to help NYC kids gain access to life-changing performing arts programs through Broadway Bound Kids. Your donation will also help me and my team win the BROADWAY BEE, a hilarious adult spelling bee between the Broadway Community! The more money my team raises the more lifelines I’ll get to help my team win!
