The Higher Education Channel needs your help to put together a live interactive program that creates real solutions for decreasing gun violence. We want to create a conversation that leads to real change.
We're not seeing this as an anti-gun forum, but as a program that would address the broader issues in society today that lead to violent crime. We envision this as something that is looking at everything that can make a difference, and ways we as a community can come together, including volunteering at after school programs so kids have safe places to go after school, writing your congressman about your beliefs, helping mental heath providers reach those who need them - all sorts of different ways of providing help and exploring every facet of the issue.
All funds raised during this CrowdRise campaign will be used to continue our work in St. Louis strengthening and promoting the education, arts, and cultural communities in the St. Louis Metropolitan area. When we reach our goal, we will be eligible for an even greater opportunity. Because we have applied for an A Community Thrives Grant, not only will all funds raised during this CrowdRise campaign help us to continue our work in St. Louis, they will help us unlock up to $100,000 for our new program to leverage media and the St. Louis area's resources to tackle the gun violence epidemic gripping our community and our country. If we raise at least $3,000 here, we will be considered for an A Community Thrives Grant to win $100,000, $50,000, $25,000, $15,000, or $10,000 which will be used to put together a program that will seek out solutions to end the high rates of gun violence and gain commitments to create real change.
What will we do with A Community Thrives Grant? This grant will allow HEC to put together a program that will tackle the epidemic of violent crime gripping our community and our country. It's time we brought everyone together and dug into what each and every person in our community can do about it. It won't just be an evening with a lot of talk and no action. Everyone will leave with action items, and we will follow up on those action items and the progress we've all made in the weeks, months and years to come. Let's come together and do what we can to solve this epidemic.
But we need to first meet our CrowdRise goal! Can we count on you?
BONUS! An additional $25,000 Fan Favorite grant will be given to the campaign that raises the most money on CrowdRise by May 11!
What's the story of HEC? We’re a devoted crew of media professionals dedicated to telling the stories you need to know about what is happening in our community and the stories you want to learn about how events and ideas from St. Louis are impacting the wider world. We seek out the true stories of people making a difference in our community,- the stories of artists, educators, entrepreneurs and thinkers. We connect the community with its institutions, companies, government and non-profits. Our stories help artists, organizations, educators and others seek funding, gain exposure, make connection, earn grants, learn about our governing bodies’ plans and educate our children.
But those stories take money to produce and this town hall will take even more. We want to make a difference and we need your help.
