I've teamed up with Foundation for Girls in Charlotte for this years #GivingTuesdayCLT. The first thing that caught my eye was that the founders are two girls themselves, being in 11th and 6th grade in the Charlotte area.
More about the Foundation for Girls Programs:
Our hands-on programs in technology, finance, and leadership, integrate discussions on being a leader and taking charge of one's life, and owning it. We take our programs to the girls in special schools, shelters, drop-in centers, safe homes, and crisis centers. We engage girls and youth and help them find their passion, develop self-confidence, and learn skills to be self-reliant. We encourage girls to pursue careers that align with their interests, including traditionally male-dominated fields of technology and finance. We enable them to have a seat at every table and a voice in every conversation. We coach girls to be courageous and confident: this allows them to take the first steps towards stability through financial independence.
WE CURRENTLY WORK WITH HOMELESS, REFUGEES, AND SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, FOSTER CARE ABUSE, AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING
