The Thomas Fire is now the third largest wildfire in California history and has burned approximately 280,000 acres across Ventura and Santa Barbara County, a greater equivalent land area than New York City and Boston combined.
The results of the fire and subsequent mudslides are devastating. Claiming 18 lives, leaving tens of thousands displaced and destroying over thirteen hundred homes and buildings. The loss of both domestic and wild animals, and destruction of beautiful wild lands, adds additional grief to those impacted. The effects of these fires will be felt by individuals, families and communities for years to come.
Gunnar Lovelace, co-Founder of Thrive Market, grew up in Ventura County on an organic farm in Ojai that was the inspiration for the company. Humbled and inspired by the courage and generosity of the Ojai, Ventura and Santa Barbara communities in support of those impacted by these fires, Thrive Market has partnered with All It Takes to raise funds to help those impacted by the Thomas Fire.
Thrive Market democratizes access to healthy food by buying groceries directly from brands, allowing our members to shop the catalog at wholesale price with home delivery. Thrive Market has donated the first $50,000 to this campaign and funds raised will primarily be used to supply local food banks and shelters with health food, along with families who have lost their homes with $500 of grocery grants along with a free 5 year membership to the platform ($300 value). Additionally, Thrive Market sent a donation of $30,000 worth of groceries to Food Share, a food bank servicing 70,000 families every month in Ventura County. including many fire victims.
