KahumanaWorks Employment Program is under the 501c non-profit organization of Alternative Structures International dba Kahumana on the Leeward side of Oahu, Hawaii. This program at the ASI shelter sites provides assistance, support, resources and connections for homeless families in both the shelters of Ohana Ola O Kahumana and Ulu Ke Kukui in the Waianae community (https://www.kahumana.org/homelessness). In this program, participants in the shelters learn valuable employment readiness skills as well as soft skills to not only establish employment, but maintain permanent employment in the community to reach the families permanent housing goals. Soft Skill Training/Education workshops utilize both classroom setting & environmental “real world” settings that include other facets such as guest speakers, credential building for employment, and applicable tasks that will provide increased employment qualifications, soft skills, confidence and overall readiness for all individuals in the program. Soft skills include (but not limited to): Communication, Teamwork, Planning/organizing (time management), Professionalism in the workplace, Positive attitude, Critical thinking, and Interpersonal skills; providing clients the tools, support and resources toward self-sufficiency in reaching independent and family goals and needs. Along with skill building/training, participants are also provided with resume development and updating, interview preparation and overall job readiness tools/resources such as clothing, transportation and one-on-one coaching.
Please help these individuals and their families reach their permanent employment goals to establish housing through a 100% tax deductible charitable donation. All proceeds go directly into the funds for assisting/supporting those individuals in this program who are in the job readiness training workshops and every little bit helps!
Thank you all very kindly!
