Denning Animal Rescue is a nontraditional animal rescue. We believe that animal rescue is not and should not be about animals first. Animal rescue is about putting people first, modeling healthy relationships with animals, and helping people make the changes they need to have healthy relationships with animals. After the human part of the relationship has been addressed, animal rescue is then all about the animals. It's reaching out and feeding the only companion an elderly person has - his or her dog or cat. It's helping an elderly couple find homes for the animals over-running their home - because they are too ashamed to tell anyone how bad it's become and because their budget does not allow long trips to other towns to spay and neuter the animals dumped in their yards. It's making sure that the veteran camped out in the woods can afford to spay and neuter his dogs, treat them for parasites, and feed them. It's feeding the cat or dog of the young woman, hooked on meth and living in her car, so that she does not lose absolutely everything. It's making sure that a person fleeing an abusive relationship has a place for his or her beloved pets to safely stay while he or she runs for life itself.
