Rachel (7), David (8), Patience (15), and Ama (17) live in extreme poverty, are without their mothers who are seeking asylum in the U.S., and are in urgent need of assistance to be enrolled in school. Dream On International is sponsoring this Crowdrise campaign to raise $2,500 to enroll them in schools in their home country of Ghana for one year.
The children have loving mothers who are physically disabled and were subjected to severe discrimination and violent abuse in Ghana and it became necessary for them to flee their home country. Ghana has been called “the worst place in the world to be disabled” (BBC). The women are seeking asylum in the United States.
It was a heart-wrenching decision for the women to leave their country, culture, and families in order to protect themselves from further harm. It is very difficult for the women to live an ocean away from their children and they worry about their children daily. Until the women obtain legal status and can be reunited with Rachel, David, Patience, and Ama, their greatest wish is to know that their children are safe, well cared for, and provided with an education.
With the assistance of Dream On, last year three of the children were enrolled in school. With the new school year fast approaching, we would like to ensure all four childen are enrolled for the coming school year.
Your contribution will cover the expenses of uniforms, tuition, school lunch, supplies, books, and bus for one full year. Please help us send Rachel, David, Patience, and Ama to school.
The children will be cared for by Dream On International, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that has made significant advances in addressing human rights abuses since 2007. To learn more about Dream On International, please visit DreamOn.org.
