RECONNECTING VETERANS & RESCUING DOGS
We are committed to helping combat Veterans heal through the loyal companionship of service canines. "Finding Freedom," Rescue dogs help Veterans with PTSD (video)
Did you know that an average of 22 Veterans commit suicide each day? And, their average age is 18-34. According to the 2018 Wounded Warrior Project Survey, 78 percent of warriors are living with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Operation Freedom Dogs is an all volunteer, nonprofit intensely focused on reconnecting combat Veterans with PTSD with the society they defended. We reconnect our Veterans through a program that trains them to train a rescue dog that will become their service dog. Your generous donations allow us to provide this program all free of charge to the Veteran. The average cost of a service dog is $8,390.00, and OFD is one of the only organizinations that provides this service, free of charge to the Veteran, in the Southeast.
"The mission of OFD is unique because they train Veterans with PTSD to train their service dog. Initially, I was nervous and almost changed my mind when I realized my long-kept secret was going to be exposed. I decided that I had everything to gain and nothing to lose, and to my surprise, all of those feelings went away the day I met Millie. Since she was a rescue dog, something told me that we knew the same pain and judging. I knew she needed to trust someone as much as I did." Celina Partida OFD Graduate
Phase 1: Current training facility progress thanks to local donations.
Operation Freedom Dogs is on mission to increase the total number of Veterans, and geographic area we serve by building our own training facility. We currently rent a training facility one day a week. When phase 1 is complete, our new facility will allow us to accomlish our mission by moving us to a five day a week training program. Phase 2 will allow us to house out of town Veterans.
Every dollar goes to help offset construction costs like: building permits, concrete, septic systems, water, electricity, HVAC, etc. Having a facility like this, and supporting a cause like OFD, is a unique opportunity for our Veterans and our community.
We hope that you will join us in our mission and consider us for your fundraising efforts. Please help us save lives and support those that have sacrificed so much for our freedoms by joining our efforts to literally raise the roof! Any funds that exceed our goal will go directly toward the cost of producing a service dog for combat Veterans with PTSD.
