Kids Saving the Rainforest needs your help!
Kids Saving the Rainforest is a non-profit organization with an extraordinary story. Every story starts somewhere.
This one happened like this: It all began in 1999 when two 9-year old girls living in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica decided to save the rainforest. They began painting rocks and selling them on the side of the main road that led to the National Park. With the money they raised, they bought trees and started planting them; two girls saving the rainforest one tree at a time.
The Mission of Kids Saving the Rainforest is to protect the diverse wildlife of Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast by rehabilitating wildlife, Planting trees in our 117 hectares rainforest, conducting original scientific research, training volunteers, and promoting conservation.
That all started with Little Buddy. Let me tell you another story: One day, two boys came to the Mono Azul with a sloth tangled in some barbed wire fencing. With the help of Jennifer and Janine’s step-dad Chip, the girls freed Little Buddy from the barbed wire fence. That was the first animal KSTR ever rescued, rehabilitated, and eventually released.
The goal for every single animal that comes in is its eventual release. This goal is achieved through the fuel of hope, and the hard work of the staff and volunteers of Kids Saving the Rainforest. They are doing amazing work and there are many animals who are wild and free because of them.
The Rescue Center and Sanctuary rescues on average 200 animals each year. As you can imagine monkeys and sloths aren't paying customers, so they have to rely on the generosity and kindness of like minded people who want to make a difference and save the tropcial rainforest of Costa Rica.
Recently they have fallen onto hard times and need to call out to anyone and everyone for help to stay open. Currently KSTR is home to 43 resident animals who live in our sanctuary and 21 animals that are candidates for release. If we do not come up with extra funds soon they will be forced to close their doors. They are the only wildlife rescue center located within the Central Pacific Coast. Without this wonderful organzation 200 animals each year would go without care. That is why they are asking very humbly that you consider donating to their cause!
No donation is too small and every penny goes towards caring for the animals!
All proceeds from fundraising efforts go directly to keeping this extraordinary organization running, and giving the animals the care they so desperately need. From massive fruit and vegetable orders to medical supplies, the costs for running the operation are quite high, so any help that you can provide goes a very long way!
In return they will send you a certificate with your name and donation that you can share on social media, pictures of the animals, reports and updates and if you sponsor a sloth you will receive a really cute stuffed sloth that you can gift for the holidays or keep.
