Dear Family and Friends,
I am SO excited to be running the 2019 Boston Marathon as part of team IMPACT Melanoma! IMPACT Melanoma is a non profit organization working to reduce incidences of Melanoma through education, early detection, prevention and support.
I am running in honor of my late Grandfather, Robert Pankuck. My grandfather was diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma at the end of 2008 and lost his battle on June 14, 2009. As we approach the ten year anniversary of his passing this year, I look forward to running in honor and remmemberance of such a decent and loved man, who touched so many people. I am forever indebted to him and my Mammy for the strong family unit they built together and he left behind. We miss and love our 'Poppy' always.
I look forward to race day and hope you will consider donating to my fundraiser for this impactful organization. You can also read more about the work of IMPACT Melanoma below. I greatly appreciate your consideration!
Below is one of Poppy's favorite prayers, provided to me from Mammy.
I was regretting the past and fearing the future. Suddenly, My Lord was speaking: "My name is I AM" He paused, I waited, he continued. "When you live in the past with its regrets and mistakes, It is hard. I am not there. My name is not I Was." "When you live in the future, with its problems and worries...It is hard. I am not there. My name is not I Will Be." "When you live in this moment, it is not hard. I am here, MY NAME IS I AM."
More on IMPACT Melanoma...
IMPACT Melanoma (formerly the Melanoma Foundation of New England) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the incidence of melanoma through education, prevention and support. IMPACT Melanoma offers a range of educational programs to spread awareness. These programs include Your Skin Is In, a program teaching high school, middle school and college students the importance of protecting their skin and the dangers of tanning; The Skinny On Skin, educating beauty professionals to recognize potential melanomas on the head, neck and scalp of their clients; and Practice Safe Skin, providing free sunscreen to communities for their beaches, parks, sports fields and more. IMPACT Melanoma also offers support for patients and their caregivers through support groups and its one-on-one Billy's Buddies program. All of our programs are free! Team IMPACT is participating in the 2019 Boston Marathon to raise awareness about the importance of protecting your skin and raise funds to support its mission. Together we can make an IMPACT!
