To celebrate International Day of Democracy on September 15, 2017 more than 60 professional musicians from New York City and beyond will come together for a spontaneous and free performance of J.S. Bach’s monumental Mass in B minor at St. Michael’s Church at 7pm.
All of the performers are donating their time and talents in the hopes of raising money to support three causes they voted to support:
- Black Lives Matter
- Planned Parenthood
You can choose between these charities on our main donation page.
The proceeds from the performance will be divided evenly between these three causes, and the event will be supported and documented by donations of products services from our community. The concert will be free to the public and donations will be encouraged at the event in addition to here on Crowdrise!
More info about this event including a list of artists involved in the project and those donating products and services can be found at www.impromptumusic.nyc.
Given the anxiety and distress many of us are feeling about our country, we turn to music to help ease our collective emotional stress, and we’ve chosen to perform a work we believe has restorative powers and that will be musically and socially satisfying for all involved.
Please join us as we launch the 2017–18 season in a communal and celebratory way, highlighting music’s importance in our community’s daily lives.
Thank you for generously donating to support these causes!
