26.2 miles for CO/LAB!
A marathon is a metaphor for life: Moments of Glory. Moments of Despair. As is the inherent symbolism in the Drama Masks: Tragedy & Comedy. Or the line from the Billy Joel song Summer Highland Falls: 'It's either sadness or euphoria.' Such has been our journey with Dusty. And thanks to CO/LAB (Creative Opportunities without Limits And Boundaries) Theater Group, those moments of glory are bountiful as Dusty has 'found his voice' as an Actor.
On November 4, I ran the NYC Marathon on behalf of CO/LAB....as a parent and also their newest Board Member. Please help me celebrate my journey by supporting this stellar organization which offers all of their core programming at no cost to its Actors.
CO/LAB provides developmentally disabled individuals a creative and social outlet through theatre arts. Dusty has participated in Musical Theatre Ensemble, performed in his first show, With Words, and is discovering new ways to express himself through Physical Theater. For many years, Dusty has enjoyed Broadway as a member of the audience…thanks to CO/LAB, he now gets to experience the glory of creative expression on the other side of the proscenium.
Too many times on this Austim journey, doors have been shut. And yes, those have been moments of despair. But when Dusty takes the stage as a CO/LAB Actor -- just as when I crossed that finish line in Central Park as a New York City Marathoner -- the Moments of Glory FAR outshine. As they should.
Thank you for helping us support and celebrate that true glory. Your gift is so very needed and so greatly appreciated. No amount is too small. A lot of people giving a little adds up to a lot.
WIth our love and gratitude,
Katie, Mike, Dylan and Dusty
