Coming soon this spring, Girls on the Run-Chicago will hold 3 5ks to celebrate how far each of our 8,000+ Chicagoland girls have come this season. The Squeez’d Girls on the Run-Chicago 5k series is unique in half the participants are children. Each girl (or boy) is joined by a “running buddy” to cheer them on, support them and make sure they reach that finish line. While the girls’ registration cost is included in their program fees, each “running buddy” must register $35 to enter. This subsidized fee helps aid race costs.
Over 85% of girls in our programs receive some sort of financial support to participate, with over 50% coming from low-income communities. Race registration can be a difficult cost for some families. As a member of the GOTRC Associate Board, I want to be sure every girl has a running buddy and we are “in her corner.” Having a supportive adult cheering on can create enormous impact for any child.
Your donation can go a long way for a girl and her family participating in GOTR:
⋆ $35 Supports a parent (Squeez’d Girls on the Run-Chicago 5k race registration fees) ⋆ $70 Supports a parent & sibling (Squeez’d Girls on the Run-Chicago 5k race registration fees; often a sibling not enrolled in a GOTRC program will participate in the 5k)
⋆ $160 Supports a girl (Girls on the Run-Chicago program scholarship)
⋆ $200 Supports a family (girl scholarship, parent 5k entry)
