On March 2, 2018, our family lost our beloved Sara. We are heartbroken, but Sara believed in taking action and helping others. We want to honor her memory by fundraising for an organization she believed in, Gilda's Club Twin Cities. We are grateful for your support.
Here is what Sara said about the organization when she was fundraising a few months ago:
"This summer, I discovered Gilda's Club Twin Cities, and while I've only been a member for a short time, I know it will be a crucial part of staying as healthy as I can be. As many of you know, I was on leave from my teaching job last school year, and in the last few months I made the decision that another leave for 2017-18 was necessary for my health.
One of the hardest things for me is the lost of a schedule, aside from weekly treatments. Work gives me purpose; students (while often germy) keep me energized. Losing that, in many ways, is harder than the side effects from treatment. Gilda's Club gives me, and others who live with cancer (including family and friends), the chance to connect, set a schedule, and participate in a range of wellness activities. FOR FREE.
I don't often embark upon fundraising efforts. But the fact that this organization provides everything from yoga, to support groups, to improv night, to cooking lessons for caregivers -- at no cost -- is impressive. So many people with cancer are not as fortunate to have resources, so a place like Gilda's Club is invaluable.
Please consider giving.
