Raising money for Breast Cancer is an appropriate way to honor the life of Doris Adams. Avon and cancer were important parts of her life story, which is a story of persistence, determination, and service.
Doris was a successful Avon agent for over 40 years. She stuck with the business and stuck with her customers. Many became lifelong friends. Her extensive collection of Miss Albee dolls, awards for exceeding sales goals, occupied a special place in the Adams home.
Like so many people, Doris was no stranger to cancer. Her father and three aunts lost their lives to the disease at early ages. She also lost her sister to breast cancer. Doris’ personal battle started over 20 years ago when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. There would be two more battles with breast cancer. Each time, she fought hard and survived.
Doris and her beloved husband, Billie, used their experiences dealing with cancer to help others. They participated in events to raise money for cancer research, serving as the Ambassadors for the American Cancer Society 2006 Relay for Life in Hart County.
