Innocence Project client Mark Denny is pictured with his family on the day he was released in New York City. Mark served almost 30 years in prison for crimes he did not commit after he was wrongly identified in a flawed police lineup procedure. Mark was exonerated and freed in 2017 after the Kings County (Brooklyn) D.A.’s office reinvestigated his case at the request of the Innocence Project and agreed that Mark was innocent of all charges.
Since 1989, 353 people in the United States have been exonerated by DNA testing, including 38 who pleaded guilty to crimes they did not commit and 20 who served time on death row. The Innocence Project provided direct representation or critical assistance in 180 of these cases. Thank you for your support of Team Innocence Project for the 2018 NYC Half Marathon.
