The ISJL's Department of Community Engagement makes a difference, every day - because we partner with amazing students, organizations, community leaders, and families like yours.
We believe that by working together, we can make long-term, sustainable change. That's the philosophy that guides all of our programs, especially Our Reading Family and the Literacy Achievement Bonanza (LAB).
Our Reading Family (ORF) is a very special project, because it not only builds students' literacy skills and love of reading, but also brings their families in to the program. ORF helps parents/guardians build their own literacy and life skills, learn techniques to support their children's education, and also cultivates community by connecting the participant families to one another for the duration of the six week program and beyond.
The Literacy Achievement Bonaza (LAB) is a literacy day camp, bringing students together every day over their spring break to build their literacy skills-- but most of all, to nurture their love of reading!
