This Spring our fraternity Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI), mu chapter, has teamed up with the Fond Blanc organization in hopes of raising $17,000 for their mission. Fond Blanc is a local organization, started by a family in Middleton Wi, that has made it their goal to empower the lives of young orphans in Fond Blanc, Haiti. They began their mission in 2011 to build a new orphanage in the hills of Fond Blanc after the deadly earthquake in 2010 destroyed their old orphanage. They built the new orphanage because many of the children were left homeless in the streets, as their families could no longer afford to care for them. Due to overcrowding in other local orphanages, and the given instability of the city, the Fond Blanc orphanage was resurrected to become their sanctuary. The orphanage in Fond Blanc serves as a home for 60 young individuals, a school house throughout the week, and a beacon of hope for the community. Last summer nearly a dozen brothers went on a week long trip to Haiti with the Fond Blanc Organization, to see first hand what their fundraising efforts were contributing to. Their hard work of implementing a beautiful space that houses over 60 chickens, a garden with fruit bearing trees, that also functions as a place for the community to engage in bible study and english curriculum, earned our chapter national honors. With such success, we felt it was integral to continue the betterment of these young lives, and we need your help to do so! Any amount helps, as its the investment of your care and compassion that will keep these lives fruitful for years to come! If you would like any further information on the fond blanc organization, I highly encourage you to check out their website and read some of the stories , as well as blogs at www.fondblanc.org.
