This year, we are “running for mom.” Why mom? Over 75% of our residents are widows of retired enlisted Airmen and most of them are moms. We have a guiding principle here called “The Mom Rule” and it ensures that all our employees treat our beloved residents like they would their own moms.
There is much on our to-do list for our current and future “moms.” There are always widows of retired enlisted Air Force members and moms of enlisted Air Force members who need our help with safe housing, so the construction of Village 6 on our campus is currently in the concept phase.
And, as a new generation of “moms” join our community at Bob Hope Village and Hawthorn House, they bring new needs. Some of our current projects include a better equipped fitness center, updated social areas, and walking paths. We want our moms to age successfully and on their terms. Having access to physical fitness opportunities is just one way that we ensure that our residents are active, healthy and live life to the fullest. The work to satisfy our mission of providing a home is always ongoing.
