I was inspired to run for Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) research, after watching the video above by Special Books by Special kids about a young man named John Hudson Dilgen who is diagnosed with the condition. I saw the pain he was in every day to complete what seem like mundane tasks to the rest of us, walking to the kitchen for breakfast, taking a bath, and even just sitting down. However what was so inspiring, is John Hudson's insanely vibrant spirit, despite the constant pain, he is always trying to make others happy.
I realized how lucky I am to be a healthy runner, to be able to go outside and run pain free. With this realization came a bit of a responsibility, a responsibility to help those who can't be running with me. At the end of May I am running a marathon on Martha's Vineyard, I will be running to raise money for EB Research. Any money that I can raise to give to th EB Research Partnership, to be used to hopefully find a cure, will make the 26.2 miles worth every step. John Hudson inspired me to run for a cause, to be grateful for what I have, and to run for those who can't.
EB Research Partnership (EBRP) is the largest 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to funding research aimed at treating and ultimately curing Epidermolysis Bullosa, a group of devastating and life-threatening skin disorders that affect children from birth.
