Hurricane Irma blew in with a vengeance, it could have been much worse.....Karen's still needs expensive repairs but most important we need your help to rehabilate and support recued therapy horses Flicka and Silver. It took a court order to regain their custody from an Adoption/Sponsor that went terribly wrong! For three months both horses were starved and not cared for as they were supposed to be. Both horses can hardly walk and need special treatment until their butchered hooves regrow and properly support them. Dearest sweet Nigerian Dwarf goat Betsey is loved by everyone and needs special surgery (diagnosed with inappropriate lactation syndrome) that our vet recommends be performed at Florida's Veterinary School of Medicine. Essentially a radical double udder removal is necessary to save her and several thousand are needed for this alone.
Karen's strives to make a positive change in a person's outlook on life and lower their stress levels with the horses' and other animals help, including our Therapy Turkeys and Chickens that those with Autism seem to gravitate towards. Charlotte the pot bellied pig is ever present for all visitors and some vent their concerns while having the pig sit or do another trick for a treat.
While not one member of Karen's management team takes a salary, we do need reliable and competant daily assistance that you only get by paying a salary. Our Nurse/equine specialist stresses good health care habits and even provides health care advocacy for those requesting guidance.
Costs of keeping the farm going, maintenance, taxes, a new farm tractor would be heaven.
Your DONATIONS will allow us to continue helping those who depend on us and the therapy animals who assist us! THANK YOU!!!!!
