I am proud to say that Mom, Michael, Olivia (in spirit from Germany), Danielle and I will once again be joining thousands of people in the annual North Shore Cancer WALK. This 10K WALK provides all of us an opportunity to feel like we are making a slight difference in the fight against cancer.
After being diagnosed with cancer in 2004, my father proceeded to battle the disease for eleven years. Despite the challenges and hard times he faced throughout those years, we were all able to enjoy the time we had together, and create memories that will last a lifetime. Without the advancements in therapies, medications, and other methods used to treat cancer, we may have not been able to make those memories.
Therefore, the least I can do is continue to walk 6 miles to help raise critical funds for the programs at the Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center in Danvers and the North Shore Medical Center, so that other families like ours can continue to make their memories, and to aid in the development of what will one day, hopefully, be a cure.
