From June 2017 Lifeline expanded the listening service to twenty four hours per day. There has been a ten-fold increase in the number of calls received, with 37% of them being from those at high risk of suicide. Daily we receive an average of thirty four (34) calls that last between one and a half to seven hours.
Lifeline may have to close its doors, as we sufficient funds to keep our lines open until June 30th 2018. One hundred and eighteen thousand two hundred and nine dollars (TT$118,209 or US$17,000) is needed to fund Lifeline for the rest of the year. The basic operating costs of the Centre is TT$16,887 per month.
