My name is Michael, and I grew up in the 80's like many people I know. And a lot of the tv shows at the time were the in thing. A lot of awesome things went on. We had CB radios, callsigns/ CB Handles , great cartoons and thrilling yet funny tv action shows! The usual suspects. A-Team, Dukes of Hazzard, Miami Vice, Knight Rider, Airwolf, and Magnum P.I. . Life was interesting then.
A dream formed between 1982 to 85.
We had all these cool cars from these movies and TV, Dragnet's cruiser, Blues Bros: Bluesmobile, K .I. T. T., Ecto1 that Ghostbusters drove.. a hot to trot batmobile, even a car called The General Lee. Man those were the days.
I vowed I would get my chance to own one of these awesome cars. A dream car to become reality, for some young kid. That was me.
Today, roughly a twenty years, looking with my father, whom was a Mechanic. Told everybody Mike is looking for a Firebird. WHY!? Mike wants to build a Knight Rider car .
Dad and I looked at many. It wasn't until a short time after he passed away did a friend of mine help me discover my car . My KITT. Took a lot to get done but.. I bought that dream car I wanted.
Sold my car at the time to raise the money. Saved hard too for the insurance. But the Firebird was finally mine. And it was KITT!! I remember comming home with him.. and he was in rough shape. Needed some work. I was working at the time. So it was .. ok.
During the past 6 years now. Kitt has played the role of first string daily driver, show car, weekend warrior and posing for pictures at special events all over south Florida.
Here is where I now need Your help.
I had fallen ill and disabled. Struggling with medical and doctors etc, to get back on track. But i may never get to work on my own again.
Kitt has people at conventions that are delighted to see him. I took the car in to a shop to find out why he was puffing smoke. Thinking an easy job to fix. It was much worse. The star car needs a motor, radiator, water pump, and a few other things that need tending to. I have looked up motors.. and to do this. I desprately seek help. This is my last pitch at trying to save a dream that makes so many happy.
When I take the car to a show, and people pay 15 to see the car for photos inside and around the car, the money goes back into the vehicle, from parts, upkeep, and at times maitance. Yes I own and love my car. But the satisfaction of watching a little boy who is listening to his father explain he grew up with the car. Or a woman whom has always wanted to sit at the wheel, besides their donations, which I am greatly apprecitive. Make memories for both of us.
Please help KITT and I continue to make smiles happen, and stories to be shared. A donation, gets KITT back on the road, and back to the public where he can greet fans once more.
Thank you so very much for listening. It is deeply appreciated.
Proceeds go into the new motor and all that go with it. No money here is for profit. thanks again.
