On May 20th, I'm competing in an event called Day of Champions to benefit Experience Camps for grieving children. I'm writing to ask your support with a donation of any amount through my team page: Laurie’s Legacy: Day of Champions.
Experience Camps provide free, one-week camps for kids who had a parent, sibling or primary caregiver that died. it's a place where kids feel normal because everyone there "gets it".
We all know someone who's had their childhood cut short by this type of unimaginable loss. For me this experience cuts close to home. My mother Lauren “Laurie” Goldfarb passed away from Leukemia when I was 7 years old. I only wish there was Experience day camp when I was a girl. Thankfully my father, family and community DID recognize the importance of meeting other children and families who were greiving. Knowing I was not “the only one” helped so much to ease the pain and to feel “normal”. These moments and these camps give kids hope, give them permission to just be kids, and give them a place that they can remember the person who died and even forget the grief that weighs them down. I hope you'll join me in helping this organization grow to reach more kids who need this experience. You will change their lives in a way you can never imagine.
Thank you for your support!
