I could never imagine that everybody knew me in my country as a lesbian. One day I stood in front of the dilemmas - to continue materially secured woman's life in heteronormative marriage or to fight with those humans who are marginalized from everybody. The thing is that when 17 years old gay boy hugs you, who is turned out of his house by his family, he does not have much more than you who will secure and give him a hug then you have little choice, When the Court absolved murderer of nine-wounded Transgender women without any logic and you hear this verdict of not guilty with his mother in courtroom you have very little choice left. When you attend at your transgender friends funeral and you see how her little sister cries and hugs coffin then you have no chance anymore ... Beside, come in broadcast of your country's main television channel publicly and say: - yes, I've been in closet for 35 years, I've had husband And I have two children, also, my parents are so dead that they did not even know me well, yes I live in one of the most homophobic country, where people are killed because of who they are and yes, I am a lesbian. The decriminalization of homosexual relations took place only in 2000 in Georgia, Since 2012 we are trying to use our right of assembly publicly, often at risk of our own lives, but result is nothing. The Georgian government is still producing a homophobic policy. according to surveys, Every third LGBT person is victim of physical and psychological violence systematically in our country. The gay prisoners in jail have to wear a white warning ribbon on the hand that other prisoners do not shake hand them accidentally, they as are suffering from some deadly infection, are separated from other prisoners in so called Faggot jail, The prison staffs call them names as "Faggots" and are treated inhumanly . I have been involved in LGBT activism since 2012, During this time, I won cases against the Government of Georgia in the European Court of Human Rights, I obliged government for paying 33,000 euros for the benefit of LGBT community, I also won two cases in the Constitutional Court of Georgia, which resulted in homosexual persons and MSM groups being capable of blood donation which was prohibited for them, With my help, many people escaped from domestic violence, I do not know how it happened but there is no LGBT community member who did not know me in Georgia, At this moment, LGBT liberation movement has become the biggest goal of my life. I would like to tell the citizens that there is no democratic state without equal rights, where all people are protected. I would like to take part in the election scheduled in October this year in Georgia ,my goal is to take LGBT movement to a new level in Georgia, after that I will have left no way to return, except that the society should take a simple fact that we are living here, we are citizens of this country and our rights are human rights.
