On the occasion of my birthday, this year I am requesting that you donate money to help Christians who are being persecuted throughout the world.
I spent several months thinking and praying before selecting this topic. It didn't sound very party-happy-ish when I first came across it, but I believe God led me here anyway. I do know from the bible that He loves and cares about His people so very much!
If you decide to donate, please do so by my birthday, July 21. That way I know if I met my goal before my party begins. (If you miss the deadline, late is better than not at all; but being on time will be more celebratory for me.)
This year I am turning 33, celebrating 11 years of marriage, and I plan to celebrate my birthday on a Saturday, which is July 22nd. With that inspiration, I am requesting a minimum donation of $3 to attend my dinner party, or otherwise please donate twin digits. (ie: $11, 22, 33... or even $99).
(Note: This website requires a minimum donation of $10; but you can donate smaller amounts by giving them to me in person. I will send all collected donations to Open Doors.)
My fundraising goal is $330 (for my 33rd birthday). Long story short, I currently have 3 campaigns open for 2 organizations; all of which are to raise money to help Christians who are persecuted. You can check the progress on the other two here: https://www.facebook.com/donate/1930458887204390/ and www.mygfa.org/sarahbirthday. You are welcome to donate on any of the websites.
Thank you so much for any amount that you decide to contribute!
About the organization:
Open Doors is an organization which helps Christians in dangerous areas to prepare for, survive, and recover from persecution. They also specialize in passing out Bibles and other Christian literature in places where they are difficult to obtain due to persecution. Their third emphasis is to increase awareness of the persecution that is happening in the world today, so we can come alongside our suffering brothers and sisters in Christ: with prayer, encouragement, and financial support. "Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary:“If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." -Romans 12:9-21, NIV
