Not only did the Foothills NICU help Lucas with his prematurity issues but they also diagnosed his heart condition and got us where we needed to be to save his life. Dr. Thomas, the Foothills NICU Director of Neonatology, helped us throughout our journey. He was honest with us and helped us to learn about Lucas’s condition. Not only did he help us at the Foothills but he also spends his time helping the teams at both the Children’s Hospital and South Health (both hospitals that Lucas spent time in). Dr.Thomas took the time to get to know us. He was even the one to send him home after 94 days in the NICU despite Lucas’s ongoing feeding concerns. He knew us and he knew Lucas. He knew Lucas would be safe at home...and he was.
We want to help the amazing Foothills NICU team to be able to help more families like us. More families who’s lives have been turned upside down and just want to make it home together. Don’t get us wrong, we are grateful for the Foothills NICU but the facility could use some work ;). Let’s help them with their expansion to create a family friendly space for future NICU families.
Our participation in this year’s Mother’s Day Walk and Run and your donations will be allocated to help with the much-needed Foothills NICU expansion.
