Hello! My name is Jordan Calusdian and I am a sophomore theatre student at Emerson College and I am raising money for the International OCD Foundation.
I have had OCD all of my life but I wasn't diagnosed until I was 17. My senior year of high school my OCD became so bad that I was not functioning. With help from Bradley Hospital I was able to take my life back. This cause is so important to me because I know there are so many other people who suffer from this terrible illness who could benefit from the support that I was able to get.
Why Team Lucky Junior?
When I was in treatment for OCD at Bradley, I was the oldest patient in the program by far. There was a little girl in the program at the same time as me that I immediately had a connection with. She loved the necklace I always wore which was a little silver elephant with its trunk up. I told her that it was lucky because its trunk was up. I continued with the program through Christmas vacation. The day after Christmas, the little girl came in and said that her mom had given her money for one thing that she could pick herself. She then pulled out a little elephant figurine with its trunk up. She named mine Lucky Jr. and hers was Lucky (because it was bigger). I still wear the necklace everyday to remind me of that time in my life where everything seemed like it was coming to an end but it was really just beginning.
