On Sunday, June 24, I am walking in memory of my husband Luke Beauchemin at the 2018 Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) 10K road race to support Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) and Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital (BWFH). Luke was only 44 years old when he passed away in April 2017due to complications related to a brain tumor that had been diagnosed just 6 months before. The treatment that Luke received at the Brigham was extraordinary. I will always be thankful for the love, care and dedication that his neurology and palliative care teams provided throughout his illness to not only Luke but also myself and our 2 children. Throughout the duration of Luke's illness, our family was blessed to receive tremendous support and love from family, friends and strangers. I am taking the opportunity to participate in this road race to pay it forward. Please consider sponsoring me in this race to help support one of the best hospitals that we are so lucky to consider close to home.
BWH and BWFH care for patients who come from across New England, throughout the United States, and 120 countries around the world. Every day, our clinicians, researchers, and caregivers work to find new ways to predict, prevent, and treat the most challenging diseases of our time while delivering world-class care with a profoundly human touch. Our B.A.A. 10K team is proud to run in support of our mission and help fuel quality patient care, innovative training, and life-changing discoveries that will benefit patients here in Boston and around the world.
