This spring, the American Red Cross of Maine is mobilizing to Sound the Alarm to save lives. We’ll be installing FREE smoke alarms in our community to reduce home fire deaths and injuries. At least 348 lives -- including 8 in Farmingdale, Maine -- have been saved since the Red Cross launched its Home Fire Campaign in 2014. Join us in this lifesaving effort by making a donation today.
The Challenge: Home fires kill seven people every day in the United States. More than 60 percent of fire-related deaths are in homes without working smoke alarms. More than 5 million U.S. homes are without smoke alarms.
The Solution: Together with volunteers, fire departments and local community partners, we are installing FREE smoke alarms, replacing dead alarm batteries, helping families create escape plans and teaching people about fire prevention. Working smoke alarms reduce the risk of death in a home fire by half. We have installed 10,000 alarms here in Maine and are on track to install another 3,600 over the next year! Sound the Alarm. Save a Life.
